About Me

Hey! I’m glad you’re here! I’m Krystle, some friends call me Krystle-Light, Krys-Style, or K-SIZZLE. I’m a Christ-following-black-30-something native of Prince George’s County Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Raised in a Christian home, the youngest of 4 girls, a Bible School grad, passionate about working with children, youth, and families in marginalized communities. Currently working as a teacher full-time at a juvenile detention center, and writing, arting, and soon styling on the side. 

I write through all of those lenses on what matters most to me:  

• 🌍 Mission (s) [my experience serving different people in different places]  
• 👗 Style (-ing) [sorta sustainable, a lil conservative, mostly functional] 
• ❤️‍🩹 (my) Heart [what I’m learning in this life journey with God]   

I agree with Maya Angelou when she said “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” So in short, that’s what you can expect from this blog- a conversation about my journey with God topped with some style tips and sprinkled with a little bit of funny.
